Department of Bio-Technology was started
in the year 2006-07, which is a center
for excellence in biotechnology research.
At present the department carrying on
research work on Micropropagation and
Bioprospecting of RED listed Potent Medicinal
plants. The department deals with the
latest developments in the dileds of Molecular
Biology, Bio-Pharmaceutical and drug discovery,
health care, plant and Animal tissue culture
and environmental pollution. |

Department of Biotechnology offers interdisciplinary
two year M.Sc. degree course in Biotechnology
on self-finance basis and Ph.D. degree
under extramural research. All the basic
required infrastructural facilities for
conducting teaching and research programmes
of Biotechnology have been developed in
this department. |

Department of BioTechnology which is present
in a three floried Life Sciences Block
of PG Section,Montessori Mahila Kalasala,Vijayawada
has adequate space and all the necessary
infrastructural facilities as per the
norms of the A.P State Council and Acharya
Nagarjuna University.The class room and
Lab Space of the Department is arranged
as per the university standards. |
The
department procured a vast collection
of books of about 400 for the library
at a cost of nearly Rs.1,50,000.The department
has all the facilities such as Labs, Instruments
and Equiments worth 1 Crore. The department
has important essential and advanced equipment
like fermentors, Lypilizer, Gel documentation
system, PCR, refrigerated centrifuges
and basic equipments like electrophoretic
systems, CO2 incubator, inverted microscopes,
phase contrast microscope, deep freezers,
Ultrasonic cell disintegrators, UV-Visonle
spectrphotometers ets. |
